Following on from DJing at the COP21 marches in London last week Thom Yorke has taken to the stage at the Pathway to Paris Gig on Friday (4th December) to debut new material, including one song that’s possibly a new Radiohead song.
Pathway to Paris is a series of gigs coinciding with the The UN Climate Change Conference at Le Trianon. The gigs, like the COP21 protests, aim to put pressure on the world leaders attending to agree on meaningful policies and solutions to help prevent climate change.
Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Flea (Who is bandmates with Yorke in supergroup Atoms for Peace) and Patti Smith were amongst those who also performed at Friday’s show.
Yorke played two new songs during his set – one called ‘Desert Island Disk’ and the other ‘Silent Spring’. During the performance of ‘Silent Spring’ Yorke comments that it would usually be “Jonny’s bit”, leading to fans inferring it is a new Radiohead song. With Radiohead Guitarist Jonny Greenwood claiming in October that the band had written a lot of material for a new album, the possiblity of it actually being new Radiohead isn’t all that unlikely. That, and the fact the chord progression sounds pretty Radiohead. You can check out ‘Silent Spring below, and below that: ‘Desert Island Disk’
