Manchester rockers, Prognosis, have announced a brand new line-up of musicians for their band and simultaneously released the new group’s first single together Dark Waters. The new track was released with a YouTube official music video set to red lighting, fittingly festive. On a social-media post announcing the news, original members Danny Daemon and Phil Weller named the new additions with please welcome the crazily talented Lewin Cantor (guitar) and Yan Akoya (drums) to Prognosis and check out our first song together!
Dark Waters is the second single released off the group’s forthcoming second album which is still in the process of writing. Prognosis released Into The Grey 3 months ago, along with a music video of its own, however, Dark Waters still appears to be the first song that the new members Cantor and Akoya have contributed to.
Upon discussion of the decision to add new members to Prognosis, founding member Weller noted that 2020 was a shock to the system for every band, but amidst all of this pandemic, changing half of our line-up was something none of us expected. Weller continues on a hopeful note, saying that ultimately though I think the shake up has done us the world of good. We feel revitalised; it felt like the stars aligned for us with Yan and Lewin joining the band. They’re exceptional talents and we feel pretty invincible right now!
Prognosis was forced to cancel all live performances, for which they made their career, due to safety concerns surrounding the current Covid-19 global pandemic. The group has not made any plans to return to the stage in 2021 as of yet, however, they have described this latest single as being incredibly relatable to issues around the pandemic.
When describing Dark Waters, Prognosis stated that lyrically, the song talks about dealing with and reflecting on everything we’ve been through in 2020. The overarching message is one of rebirth; coming through hard times – rising out of dark waters – with a greater strength and self-confidence having survived the experience. And away from the band, we feel it’s something everyone can relate to as we enter the final weeks of a really dire year. We are all emerging from out of dark waters right now.
Prognosis has not ruled out live shows in 2021 however, stating that of course we’ll be back playing shows when the time comes. We miss live music and we miss our fans, but we’re incredibly excited for the future of this band. With the additions of guitarist Cantor and drummer Akoya, the band looks to the future as they describe their future after Dark Waters saying that behind the scenes we’re using Dark Waters as the cornerstone to our second album, which we are deep into writing.
Dark Waters is available on YouTube in the form of the group’s newest music video and will be available for download and streaming on December 24th, this Thursday. Their first single, minus the new line-up, Into the Grey is available on YouTube and for streaming now. While there are no upcoming tour dates for Prognosis, the band is offering special merchandise deals on their website, found here.
