Wyldest, the music project created by London-based Zoe Mead, have debuted a mesmerising new single ‘Another Christmas’ for the holiday season. The track dropped on the 17th December via Hand In Hive Records, with all proceeds from the release going towards Crisis UK, a charity combatting homelessness in the UK.
With a soft, plucking guitar, and Mead’s haunting vocals, the track approaches the sombre side of the holiday season. Throughout, the artist celebrates her the people close to her, while expressing her longing to be with the ones she loves at Christmas with touching sincerity. It’s a subject matter that many can relate to during such a turbulent time, but through Mead’s refreshing honesty, the release assures comfort to anyone who listens.
“It dawned on me a week or so ago that this was likely to be the first Christmas I have spent away from my family,” the artist said when speaking of the song’s contemplative meaning in a press release. “I was lying awake at night in bed feeling sorry for myself and feeling all sentimental. It got me thinking about how careless and absent-minded I have been in the past.”
“I wanted to write this song in an effort to remind myself how lucky I am to have people around who care and how, even though I may not see them on the 25th December, I need to make more of an effort to see them every other day of the year when I can.”
