Phil Anselmo, former vocalist for iconic heavy metal band Pantera has released his first solo album, entitled ‘Walk Through Exits Only’.
‘Walk Through Exits Only’, released through Anselmo’s independent record label Housecore Records, sees its official release today after being streamed on Revolver magazines website last Friday.
Since the official disbanding of Pantera in 2003, Anselmo has fronted the Louisiana metal band Down, and played guitar for hardcore-punk project Arson Anthem. He has also gained significant media attention owing to a long-standing feud with his former Pantera brethren, who blamed his heroin addiction and supposed abandonment for the band’s breakup. This resentment reached a head in 2004, when, following the murder of former Pantera guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott, Anselmo was requested not to attend the funeral. In a 2012 interview with Metal Hammer, Anselmo expressed hope for a reconciliation.
Anselmo will celebrate the release of his first solo LP with a North American tour, supported by Warbeast, and Author and Punisher.
