Classic Rocks magazine hosted their 11th annual Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards in London tonight at The Roundhouse in Camden (Via breakingnews) Iconic British rock band Queen were honoured with the Living Legends award at the award show. Guitarist Brian May collected the award on behalf of Queen at the 11th year show.
This award has been followed by Queens recently celebrated 40th anniversary of one of their biggest and most iconic hits, Bohemian Rhapsody, furthermore, they have been announced as a headline act at 2016’s Isle of Wight Festival. Brian May was handed the living legend award for the band by guitarist Joe Satriani – who was also honoured with the maestro award. Previous recipients of the living legend award include Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Motorhead’s Lemmy, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop and ZZ Top.

Other iconic rock influences also won awards including Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper and Noddy Holder More honour awards being given out to artists such as Nils Lofgren, who plays guitar in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band as well as having a solo career who was honoured with the ceremonies outstanding contribution award.
Led Zeppelin won reissue of the year for re-releasing their back catalogue in a deluxe box and let’s not forget the iconic Australian hard-rock band AC/DC, who were named band of the year. AC/DC are currently touring their latest album ‘Rock or Bust’ around the world which was the first album in their 40 year career to not Feature original and founding member Malcolm Young who is suffering with Dementia.
Iron Maiden won the album of the year award for The Book Of Souls which was released in September, previously being delayed since singer Bruce Dickinson needed to recover from treatment removing a cancerous tumour at the time. The award for film/DVD of the year was given to Foo Fighters in appreciation of their Sonic Highways documentary, which took fans on the journey of them touring recording studios around the US to create an album.
