English duo Pet Shop Boys have released their twelfth studio album, entitled, ‘Electric’.
The synthpop duo, consisting of Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant, gained popularity towards the end of the 1980’s electronic music trend, and have since gone on to be among the most successful British dance music acts, receiving a Brit Award in 2009 for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’.
Critical reaction to the album thus far has been universally positive, with a score of 86 on Metacritic, several noting it as a return to form after a lukewarm reception to their last effort, 2012’s, ‘Elysium’.
‘Electric’ is Lowe and Tennant’s first release on their own music label x2, after breaking with Parlophone in March, after 28 years. Alongside the two singles, ‘Axis’ and ‘Vocal’ already released, the album features a Bruce Springsteen cover, ‘The Last to Die’, and guest vocals from rapper Example on the track ‘Thursday’.
The albums general release today follows its stream via The Guardian’s website last week. The track listing is as follows.
1. “Axis”

5. “Inside a Dream”
6. “The Last to Die” (Bruce Springsteen cover)
