Today, the Scottish indie-rock band The Twilight Sad released the single Tell Me When We’re Having Fun after it had been lost for roughly 7 years. The song dates back to the band’s 3rd studio album No One Can Ever Know which was released back in 2012. The single did not originally make it onto the album and could previously only be heard on the NOCEK live-tour CD.
The Twilight Sad’s most recent album was a live version of their 2019 studio album It Wont Be Like This All The Time. The album was meant to be performed at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom in April but was cancelled due to safety concerns surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, the post-punk band held a ‘listening party’ on Twitter for fans who wished to virtually experience a live-show for their latest album.
In 2016, the band was invited to play as the opening act for The Cure on their North American Tour, giving this small indie-band from Scotland the opportunity to play large venues such as Madison Square Garden. This was a collaboration which continued through to The Cure’s European Tour which saw massive crowds in venues including London’s Wembley Stadium, and went further on into smaller gigs throughout 2019.
Following their world tour with The Cure, The Twilight Sad embarked on their largest headlining show, It Wont Be Like This All the Time 2019 UK Tour in promotion of their new album. Along with the release of the newest single today, the band has also recently announced new 2021 tour dates in the UK in the coming spring and summer months.
The band is famous for their loud ear-splitting live performances and have expressed on social media that they are eager to return to the stage in 2021. Members of the rock band are known to have personal relationships with many of their die hard fans who have openly described their live sound as ‘folk with layers of noise’. Along with fan-praise, every full-length album The Twilight Sad has released, dating back to 2009, has received critical acclaim.
The new, long lost, single Tell Me When We’re Having Fun is available today and the band’s most recent album, It Wont Be Like This All The Time, Live!, is streaming on all player platforms. Tickets for 2021 live-shows are on sale now and performances for such will feature songs off the most recent 2019 album.
