Just this evening, Reading and Leeds festival announced the first acts set up to perform at its 2021 weekend. This follows an incredible virtual event which took place last weekend, with archived footage broadcasting on BBC iPlayer, since the 2020 live shows were cancelled due to Covid-19.
Organisers took to Instagram to relay the news, saying, “#RANDL21 is going to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever.” There will be two main stages fo the first time ever, with both festivals running over 27th-19th August 2021. Check out the full line-up so far below.
Tickets will go on sale at 9am this Thursday, 3rd September, with headliners Stormzy, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Post Malone, Disclosure, Liam Gallagher, and Queens Of The Stone Age. Many of these bands and artists shared their excitement; Queens Of The Stone Age simply said, “HERE. WE. COME”, while Liam Gallagher reminisced on previous years, posting about the festival line-up from 2000, at which he performed as a part of Oasis.
The headliners will be supported by none other than Lewis Capaldi, Two Door Cinema Club, AJ Tracey, Doja Cat, Mabel, and MK. Tickets purchased this year will remain valid, or fans can still receive a refund from the point of purchase.
The Managing Director of Festival Republic, Melin Benn, said in a press release; “After an absence of a year we are delighted to announce the 2021 return to Reading’s Richfield Avenue and Leeds’ Bramham Park in 2021 with our most epic plan yet. Two main stages, six headliners, the best line up of acts 2021 will see and 200,000 fans are going to celebrate the best music in the best music festivals in Britain.”
When Reading and Leeds 2020 festival was cancelled back in May, fans were offered a plan for the future, in which they were promised that “Reading and Leeds in 2021 will be worth the wait.” The line-up included big names Liam Gallagher and Stormzy, who will return next year, along with Rage Against The Machine, Courteneers, Aitch, Sam Fender, Mahalia, and Georgia.
