At midnight Southend alternative rock favourites Nothing But Thieves released a surprising new single ‘Unperson‘ from their upcoming album Moral Panic due out on 23 October 2020 via Sony Music UK. An official premiere of the music video was held in YouTube at 4pm BST with more than 2000 people watching live. ‘Unperson‘ is the third official single off the highly anticipated third studio album after ‘Is Everyoby Going Crazy‘ dropped in March followed by ‘Real Love Song‘ in June.
The single immediately hits with considerably faster and more upbeat tempo than previous singles, unleashing Nothing But Thieves’ relentless energy and rebelious charge. Backed up with heavily distorted guitars and almost industrial vibe vocalist Conor Mason cries out “Maybe I’m flawed, but I do exist / It’s a fault of mine, I didn’t sign up for this“.
‘Unperson‘ fits perfect within the upcoming Moral Panic‘s world of madness, panic and losing control that is certain to resonate with many people in the crazy times we live in. In the description of the official video the band talks about their upcoming LP with the following statement, also shared in previous social media posts: “This album is about the tension in the air. It’s about people. It’s about you. Moral Panic Is setting in Terror fever It’s too late to begin.”
Moral Panic is available to pre-order at the band’s online store with limited eddition signed CDs, vinyl and yellow casettes all on sale along with merch and exclusive bundles. The official artwork was revealed in June along with second single ‘Real Love Song‘ and was designed by Steve Stacey from Probation London, also creditted for the covers of Nothing But Thieves’ first two albums.
Nothing But Thieves have been at the forefront of the UK’s indie and alternative rock scene ever since the their self-titled debut in 2015. Their second album Broken Record came out in 2017 and peaked at #2 in the UK Albums Chart. An year later, the EP What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way? came out as a digital release and cemented their name as one of the most exciting young bands on the international rock scene widely praised by critics and fans for their fresh compositions, infectious energy, lyrical content and Mason’s vocal range.
Nothing But Thieves return to touring in early 2021 with February shows in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. So far the only confirmed festival appearances for summer 2021 are Nova Rock in Austria, and Hurricane and Southside festivals in Germany, all three in June.
