The new album continues Disclosure’s musical collaborations with other acts, with the likes of The Weeknd, Lorde, Gregory Porter and Sam Smith all featuring on the album.
Disclosure’s work with other artists is a key component to their musical style and success; with their first hit song being ‘Latch’ in 2012 which featured Sam Smith.
Disclosure had this to say on their workings with people and their relationship with The Weeknd
“We’re very picky with who we work in the first place, so we only choose people we know have written their own songs and are good at writing.”
Howard revealed that their connection with The Weeknd dates back to a show they played supporting him in London “about three years ago”. “He was playing his first ever London show and his support act dropped out,” he said. “He was like,’Who can just come and DJ before our set?’ We went and did it.”
Disclosure will no doubt be hoping that the new album ‘Caracal’ is just as successful as their first release back in 2013, ‘Settle’ did remarkably well, going straight to number one in the charts and later being nominated for a Mercury Prize.
The use of supporting artists will no doubt lend their hand to the growth of the album, especially when the guests are growing in popularity themselves, such as The Weeknd. These growing acts combined with the massive attraction of global stars like Sam Smith will certainly push this album to the forefront of the charts.
The album is now available for purchase and download, found here.
