Bon Iver has announced they will be rescheduling their UK and European tour dates for the second time because of the on-going global COVID-19 pandemic. The shows were originally supposed to be in April but were then moved to January 2021. The band has also announced that due to popular demand, they will be adding a second date in London’s Wembley Arena on November 2nd.
They have now announced that the shows will kick off on the 24th of October 2021 in Leeds and they will perform in Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin, London, Antwerp, Cologne, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, Barcelona, Madrid before finishing up in Lisbon on the 18th of November.
They shared the news on their Instagram page, with the caption saying; “It is with great care and empathy to all involved that we announce the rescheduling of these tour dates in Europe and the UK to the summer and autumn of 2021, respectively. All previously purchased tickets will be valid for these rescheduled dates.”
The band will be supported by The National’s Aaron Dessner. Aaron and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon recently teamed up with Taylor Swift on the track Exile from her new album Folklore with Aaron co-writing and producing the majority of the record. The two also perform together in indie folk rock band Big Red Machine.
Bon Iver have also just released a new song called Ate Up All Their Cake. When they announced the song on Instagram they also highlighted five organisations that work to make the world a better place through their work on stable housing (Mpls Sanctuary Movement), empowering womxn business owners (Red Letter Grant), liberating incarcerated people (Equal Justice Initiative), working to save live music (NIVA), and fighting climate change (350.org).
Talking about the need to mention these organisations, the band explained; “Through their tireless work and leadership, we have hope for a bright future for the many, not the few. Explore, support, and educate yourselves! Together, we can make the biggest differences.”
