The Summertime Social festival is running throughout August and September and is hosted in the large open space of the Norfolk Showground, located in the outskirts of Norwich. As stated on the official website, it is curated with the sole purpose of “bringing live performance back, so we can enjoy what we love and have missed, in a safely socialising context in the great outdoors“. All events are hosted in full compliance with official COVID-19 guidelines. With recent months marked with sporadic heat waves and constantly changing government updates regarding live social events, the news are sure to be met with joy and excitement from music fans itching to get out in the sun and add at least one festival to their 2020 summer memories. The event is supposed to be a “special socially distanced show” and certainly one to remember after all those months spent in lockdown.

The live performance is scheduled just in time for Dub Pistols’ highly anticipated eight studio album Addict set for release on 11 September via Sunday Best Recordings. In a review published on the band’s website, DJ Mag gave Addict a 9/10, calling it their “strongest LP yet“, while the official announcement on their label page promises a “melting pot of dubwise sensibility, junglist riddims and feelgood party anthems“.
In June Dub Pistols released the first single off the new record – ‘Stand Together‘, a strong anti-racism anthem calling for unity and featuring Rhoda Dakar, the lead singer of The Bodysnatchers and a living 2 Tone legend. The song perfectly captured to dominant feeling surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement and was backed up with a powerful video celebrating crucial historical events in the fight for equal rights.
The track was since followed by two more singles with guest appearances from familiar names the band has worked with continuously throughout their career. Their second song ‘Dark Days Dark Times‘ came out in July and carried over the tone and message of ‘Stand Together’ featuring MC Navigator and Seanie T.
Earlier in August, Dub Pistols brought back the positive summer vibes with their third track and video for ‘Cool Out Son‘. Here, alongside Seanie T is Lindy Layton, previously of Beats International and guest vocalist on Dub Pistols’ ‘Baby I Love You‘, ‘Our Life‘, ‘Rock Steady‘ and ‘I’m In Love’.
