It seems that London Grammar are hinting at a new body of music on the way. The last release from the electronica trio was the moving single, Let You Know. A creative collaboration between Australian producer and DJ Flume, Let You Know came out back in 2019. After a year-long hiatus since their last single, London Grammar will return with Baby It’s You.
Naturally, London Grammar fans were immediately intrigued to see all of their Instagram content deleted yesterday. In a cryptic post on the 17th of August, the band shared a snap of themselves with the mysterious caption, “Nothing Else Matters”.
Could this be an indication of new music? Fans certainly hope so, as the post has received a whopping 31,000 likes from London Grammar’s dedicated fanbase.
In other new developments, London Grammar has since confirmed their return with a new single. Taking to social media 3 hours ago, the Hey Now musicians shared the fantastic news via their official Instagram.
Featuring a somewhat paradoxical clip of a roaring fire and a body of water, the caption reads “Baby It’s You. Out tomorrow.” The post has already received over 40,000 views from fans, all of which delighted at the news of new London Grammar music. One fan wrote ecstatically: “it’s been so long! Thank you for saving 2020”
The last studio album from London Grammar was the ice-cool Truth Is Such A Beautiful Thing, which was released back in June of 2017 and peaked at Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart that year. The album features tracks like Wild Eyed, Who Am I and Oh Woman Oh Man, and was wonderfully received by fans and critics alike. Truth Is Such A Beautiful Thing also led to London Grammar being nominated for the prestigious Best British Group at the 2018 instalment of the Brit Awards.
September Management Founder Jonathan Dickens, who works closely with the terrific trio’s label Ministry of Sound, has recently confirmed that the third album from London Grammar is indeed on the horizon. However, the exact release of the band’s next album remains ambiguous.
In a conversation MusicWeek on August 10th, Dickens explained how lockdown put London Grammar’s work together on hold. Dickens stated that “The new music is going to come when it comes if I’m being dead honest…It’s only really been recently where the band could even interact with each other in person.”
Dickens went on to praise London Grammar, saying that “They’re one of those bands that is getting better. There’s always been an argument that, as bands release music, I think they get worse. This band is getting stronger.”
Dickens continued to sing the group’s praises, meditating that “They’re a real development band. Their knowledge and the things they’re seeing, the way the mechanics of the band operate, caring more and being much more focused visually on what they do. It’s encouraging to see them develop step by step.”
Nottingham-born band London Grammar is made up of members Hannah Reid, Dominic ‘Dot’ Major and Dan Rothman. Formed in 2009, London Grammar made their debut with the blinding debut studio album, If You Wait.
