Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA has announced the new dates for his 25th anniversary tour for his hit album Liquid Swords. The tour was supposed to have happened in March of this year but was unable to go ahead because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
GZA will be kicking off his tour in Brighton on the 25th of February before going to London, Bristol, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. GZA has also added a new date in Sheffield. Ticket holders’ original tickets will still stand and tickets for the new date are on sale now.
GZA, real name, Gary E. Grice, is a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan is the oldest and first member to receive a record deal, having begun rapping in 1976. He released his first solo album, Words from the Genius, in 1991 but it didn’t sell much as his label Cold Chillin’ Records, failed to promote it. in an Interview with Select in 1995, GZA recalled: “They put out an album but didn’t promote it. They tried to put it out again last year after everything happened with the Clan, put a ’94 date on it, but still didn’t put any money behind it, so it didn’t sell twice. I’m still proud of it, though”
Wu-Tang Clan is an American hip hop group and collective formed in 1992. The collective was made up originally of rapper-producer RZA and rappers GZA, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, and Masta Killa.
Liquid Swords was released in November of 1995 and is still deemed to this day to be “a vital listen for all hip-hop fans” according to NME. It peaked at the #9 spot on the Billboard 200 chart and #2 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart.
