It has now been three days since The Streets released their long awaited new mixtape ‘None of us are Getting out of this Life Alive’ and, already I want more. Luckily for me, and the swathes of other Streets fans, it has not quite got to the nine years we were previously subjected to. New music does not seem likely (considering he just dropped a whole mixtape three days ago), Mike Skinner has announced he will play a ticketed livestream gig.
In what is essentially an album launch gig, Skinner has decided to take a bad situation and make it work for him by making the decision to host it online. It is due to be live streamed from EartH in London and will be taking place on August 6th. The tickets are available at 9am on Thursday morning from The Streets website.

His new mixtape is star studded to say the least. Featuring Idles, Donae’o, Eliza and none other than Tame Impala it is packed to the rafters with talent that has either already established themselves or are trying to. After nine years out, some thought that maybe The Streets had lost it and would not be able to keep up with the changing scene and new names that have come about during that time, but, how wrong they were. He has proven that he can still do it and shown that he has plenty more in the tank.
Over his career Skinner has proven that he has both the ability to sum up life as a young person but he has also shown that he has enough musical knowledge to keep himself on the cutting edge. Even now, after nine years, he has come back as strong as before and managed to stay as relevant. Artists dream of a comeback like that.
This live stream is another page in the book of Iconic Streets moments. Not one to let his shows underwhelm, it will no doubt be something to remember. Though I am curious to see how some of the moments that need interaction will translate over the internet. But with gigs out for the foreseeable future, this could mark a momentous occasion. If this does go down well, then you can expect to see a lot more of them as it gives the band a way to perform, fans a way to listen and also provides revenue for the band. Hopefully, it is the start of something new.
