It has been well documented how the music industry has struggled in the recent times due to coronavirus, but in a move to kick things back up for the industry, Brixton academy has announced it will now host virtual reality concerts. This is coming from Live Nation and MelodyVR who were behind the Virtual Wireless Connect, which replaced Wireless Festival.
Though just now there is not too much known about the collaboration, the dates and the artists involved are set to be announced at a later date. It will give fans the ability to pick where they want to view the gig through the MelodyVR app transporting fans from there own front room, to front row at the London venue. Hopefully, this will relieve the stress on the industry and be the starting blocks to getting everything back up and running again.

Due to this not properly being done before, it gives the artists involved a chance to break new ground with the technology we have available to us. Think of the time Travis Scott did a gig on Fortnite, it broke new ground with connectivity and what we thought could be achievable in the current time we are in. Imagine if a band like Tame Impala made their gigs available for VR, now that would be an experience.
Opened in 1929, Brixton Academy has since become one of the most iconic venues in London. It has seen some very famous people take to the stage some include; David Bowie, Madonna, The Clash, Bob Dylan and even The Mighty Boosh. It has also seen a lot of live albums being recorded there which is the hallmark of a good venue.
Though it is not quite seeing the artist in real life, the concept of a virtual reality concert now opens the door to a whole new world of possibilities. Having the chance to watch your favourite artists from the comfort of your own home sounds like a dream to many people. It is a completely new and ambitious move that can only be commended.
