On the 16th of June, the North West Ambulance Service workers came together to record a cover of the Foo Fighters hit song Times Like These. The group became internet sensations after the video received one million views across every platform.
The aim of the song was to raise money for the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust Charity, which supports not only its staff but the communities all across the north west of England. The song has raised over £6,000 so far, surpassing the target of £2,000.
The justgiving.com description reads; “The North West Ambulance Service charity are fundraising to support the staff and communities of the North West Ambulance Service who do so much for us. They are there for us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The charity provides lifesaving equipment, education programmes, community first responders and mental health & well-being programmes for the amazing staff outside of NHS funding and supports services to help YOU, YOUR family and YOUR community in the North West. They are there for us – time for us to step up for them and care for the carers.”
North West Ambulance Service Team leader Andrew Wood spoke to The Mail about the project and said; “I decided to choose the song because the lyrics really hit home with everything that was going on with Covid-19 and the pressure that it was putting on all of the NHS, not just the ambulance service”.
Wood can’t believe the support people have shown the video; “It was only supposed to be a bit of fun to put a smile on NWAS staffs’ faces but unbelievably we have had over one million views of the video across Facebook and YouTube, and raised around £6,000 on the JustGiving page.”
The success of the song has been so overwhelming, they even decided to release it on all streaming platforms too. The video is also available on YouTube and the NWSA social media platforms. You can also donate on the JustGiving page to support this great cause by clicking here.
