Last year we got to see what Kasabian would be like if it was just Sergio Pizzorno after he released his debut solo album under the pseudonym The SLP. Now it seems to be the band’s lead singer, Tom Meighan’s, turn as he has teased fans that we may be hearing solo material from him sometime soon.
In a new interview with Sky News, he has explained that during lockdown he has taken it as an opportunity to spend more time writing his own music. He is quoted as saying “I’m writing loads of music at the minute, we’ll see what happens”. This comes after the Leicester band took their first break after a six album run so Pizzorno could try his own music in which we got the album The SLP which featured the successful single “Favourite” which featured Little Simz.
But to Kasabian fans reading this, do not despair! He also confirmed that the band are not split up and they have no plans to in the near future either, in fact, the band were planning on working on their seventh album before Coronavirus brought everything to a stand still. So in the space of under two years we have Sergio solo work, Tom Meighan solo work in the pipes and news that Kasabian are working on a new album. All good news although they had pushed back their live shows.
We are very sad to announce that Kasabian’s Leicester Victoria Park Show on June 20th has been cancelled as a result of the current COVID -19 pandemic. pic.twitter.com/4kCrryyKJY

More recently the singer had released covers of “Imagine” and “Daydream Believer” in his own personal thank you to the workers of the NHS in keeping us afloat in these trying times. In the interview he did, Meighan explained that the songs he has written are very “autobiographical” and “heartbreaking”. I know that, personally, I am very interested in seeing his work and how he has managed to get his personal artistry across after hearing his counter-parts more experimental effort last year.
This comes as welcome news to fans of the band, as people have wanted to hear what Meighan has in his locker as Pizzorno is usually seen as the more musically inclined one out of the two of them. But as he has set no date or officially said if we will ever hear them, it is all just speculation as of yet but, all the while, still promising.
