Canadian actor and singer Cory Monteith, star of television hit series Glee has tragically died aged 31.
Monteith, who portrayed high school football star and glee club member Finn Hudson in the popular musical series, was found unresponsive by hotel staff at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, British Colombia. No details have been recorded as of yet, but Vancouver police have ruled out foul play. An autopsy will follow.
Monteith had portrayed bit parts on shows such as Smallville, and ‘Supernatural, and had appeared in small roles in a number of films prior to his casting on Glee in 2009. His audition caught the attention of the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, despite having no professional singing experience, and he went on to sing multiple leads, as well as perform highlights from the show on two live concert tours.
Cory Monteith is survived by his family, and his long-term girlfriend, Glee co-star Lea Michele.
