“Shoulda Known Better” is Nasty Cherry’s first music after the breakthrough ‘Season 1‘ EP. The six-track debut was released back in 2019, spawning so much hype from singles like “Win“, “Live Forever“, and “Music with Your Dad“. Accompanying the teaser, the quartet also shared the single cover and photoshoots of the members in a sweet pink aesthetic. The band were “thrilled” to drop their next work, which they described as a “hot ass” single.

Nasty Cherry is made of drummer Debbie Knox-Hewson, bassist Georgia Somary, guitarist Chloe Chaidez, and vocalist Gabbriette Bechtel. The four ladies were brought together as a band by the hands of the one and only Charli XCX, who worked with the drummer and the guitarist before.
They described their own styles as a combination of The Runaways and Spice Girls. Meanwhile, their sound bends the genres of pop and rock altogether to create nostalgic glam-rock music popular in the 00’s that reminds works from Prince, Sky Ferreira, HAIM, and early 2000 pop stars like Ashlee Simpson and Paris Hilton.
The story of how the group came to be Nasty Cherry was picked up by Netflix and made into a documentary released back in November 2019. Titled ‘I’m With The Band: Nasty Cherry‘, the documentary shows off the band’s beginning until the point they are in the current music scene. It also features the appearance of Charli XCX.
Currently signed to XCX’s imprint record Vroom Vroom Recordings, they released their very first collection ‘Season 1‘. The EP received positive reviews from wide-ranging critics, including NME that gave the record four stars and Clash that described the band as “a diamond in the rough“. The band also unveiled a stand-alone, gloomy glam rock track “What Do You Like in Me“.
This Friday (April 24), Nasty Cherry will kick off their new era with a promisingly sassy single “Shoulda Known Better“. The track is available for pre-save on any preferred streaming service. What a good Friday to look forward to!
