Welsh singer/songwriter Violet Skies has premiered a new single titled “Nothing at Night”. The track is a cut from her latest EP ‘Lonely‘, which contains five tracks including previous singles “This Could Be Love” and “Half My Life”. Hear the track from the video below.
“Nothing at Night” is an easy-listening ballad inspired by her conversation with Billie Eilish’s brother Finneas about “seeing someone naked.” She shared: “I wrote this like a year and a half ago with Finneas. We spent a long time discussing how weird it is to see someone naked everyday, then becoming strangers.”
The track is also produced by American artist Micah Jasper. He is best known from working with indie artists like gnash, The Revivalists, and Leven Kali.
Skies is an emerging singer/songwriter from Chepstow in Monmouthshire, Wales. She first released an EP called ‘Dragons‘ and was invited to perform at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing stage in 2014. Since then, she was booked to open for many artists like The Great Big World and LÉON and co-wrote Mabel’s “God Is a Dancer“, while doing several headlining shows in the UK.
In 2018, the songstress dropped four-track EP ‘I’ll Buy a House‘, with the title track described as a brilliant, sad bop. Earlier in April, she unveiled a follow-up EP simply titled ‘Lonely‘. One of the standout tracks is “Born on Valentine’s Day”, a melancholic tribute to the singer’s own birthday and the feeling of loneliness of the day.
In quarantine, Skies is another artist taking advantage of the time to create new music and get closer with fans. She participated the #StayHome #WithMe Campaign on YouTube by going on a live streaming and writing a new song while chatting with her fans. In the video, she wrote a new song called “Humans” which she promised to finish and release soon.
