On Friday 28th February, Harry Styles performed a one-off show in Brooklyn, New York at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. With a short set of only five songs, the show was a SiriusXM and Pandora Secret Session, and included an interview with “The Morning Mashup” crew from SiriusXM.
Despite the show only being announced a few hours before it began, fans excitedly filled the small club venue and sung every word of the songs from the singer’s latest album, ‘Fine Line’. After the on-stage interview, Styles gave fans an amazing set of singles ‘Lights Up’, ‘Watermelon Sugar’, for which he picked up an acoustic guitar. He then performed a new version of ‘Adore You’, ending the show by taking fans back to his self-titled debut solo album with ‘Kiwi’.
During the set, Styles asked fans to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to his friend, who was in the audience. But, the highlight of the night was when fans were treated to a rendition of One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ as Styles danced on stage and had fun with the audience. The performance premiered on SiriusXM Hits 1 on Saturday 29th February, and fans can now watch ‘Adore You’ and ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ on their YouTube Channel.
During the interview, Styles discussed a variety of topics, from his school days to Lizzo. He praised Lizzo and was asked if he would collaborate with her after they performed ‘Juice’ together at a SiriusXm show in Miami. To this, the artist replied “It’s funny because any time people like when two people perform together, everyone thinks, ‘You should do a song together.’ It’s fine, but it’s also fine for people to just like it”. While this may disappoint some fans he did say that “if there was ever a time when it made sense for us to, then absolutely”.
‘Fine Line’, from which three of the songs were taken, is the singer’s most recent album, released in December 2019. The album debuted at number three in the UK and number 1 in the US, and Styles is now preparing to embark on his second headlining tour, named ‘Love on Tour’. The run will begin in Birmingham on 15th April 2020, and travel all over the world, coming to a close in Madison Square Garden, New York on 31st October 2020. Head to the official website for more information and tickets.
The new music video from Styles premiered on the same day as the Williamsburg gig. Already at 8 million views, the video for ‘Falling’ shows Styles in a different mood from his on stage performance. He is shown alone playing the piano, as the room around him fills with water. This is one of the many incredible surprises Styles has given fans over the past few months, and there will likely be more to look forward to over the course of the year.
