Damon Albarn, lead singer of Blur, has just announced an extra date on his project ‘The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows’. The tour already travels around Europe and has one London show in May 2020, but lucky London fans can now also watch the show in June at the London Palladium.
Inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, the project was announced in October 2019, with only 8 dates. Recently, the singer added a new date to bring the tour to a close in Iceland’s Harpa Concert Hall on 12th June. The project title is lifted from poem ‘Love and Memory’ by John Clare, as was explained in an Instagram post on Albarn’s profile.
Albarn will tour with an ensemble including an orchestra, electronics, vocals and piano, capturing the beauties of Iceland, where the piece was written. He will work with conductor André de Ridder at The Barbican, bringing filmmakers on the road with him to make a memory of the experience. Tickets for the additional date in London will be available for purchase at 10am on 20th February on the venue’s website.
