The Isle of Wight Festival, one of the first in the summer circuit, has revealed the first wave of artists that will be taking to the stage at the 2020 festival. The announcement contained a string of headliners which includes Lionel Richie, Lewis Capaldi, and Snow Patrol. The festival will be returning to Seaclose Park, in Newport, on the Isle of Wight, from June 11 to June 14 2020.
Next year’s festival mark a special occasion, as the festival will be celebrating it’s 50th anniversary. The first Isle of Wight festival took place in 1968 and was headlined by Jefferson Airplane, it wasn’t until the festival’s 1970 edition that the event was put on the map. Speaking about performing at the festival, Lionel Richie said: “I’m excited to be playing at The Isle of Wight Festival next summer. It’s the first time I’ve performed at the festival and I can’t think of a better way to start the summer! It’s a festival steeped in music history – Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones have all headlined and I’m honoured to be joining the esteemed list! See you all there’.”
The first line-up announcement for next year’s festival will sure to get festival goers excited with five stellar headliners, which include Lionel Richie – who will be making his Isle of Wight Festival debut; Lewis Capaldi; Snow Patrol; The Chemical Brothers; and Duran Duran – which will be their first ever UK festival appearance, and some of the biggest and up and coming artists out there today.
“Buzzing to be playing The Isle of Wight Festival next year!! Going to try and keep the other day clear so I can get a few scoops in after I play! See ya next year yaaaaaaas,” said Lewis Capaldi, speaking about the line-up announcement.
The following names have also been revealed to be joining the already stellar line-up and five stellar headliners will be Kaiser Chiefs, Dido, Example, Happy Mondays, Becky Hill, and James Arthur. Completing the first wave of artists announced is JC Stewart, Maisie Peters, Primal Scream, Sam Fender, Shed Seven, Sigma (DJ Set), Supergrass, and The Manor.

International megastar Lionel Richie is set to co-headline the main stage, on Friday – the opening night of the festival – with Grammy and Brit Award-nominee and man of the moment, Lewis Capaldi. The opening night will also feature a special guest, Pete Tong, as he is set to close Friday night, with his Ibzia Classics.
Meanwhile, Saturday will see Snow Patrol returning the to the festival 20 years after their debut. The band will be joined in headlining duties by The Chemical Brothers, who have six UK Number 1 albums, four Grammy awards, and are known for their live performances. In a UK festival exclusive, British music icons Duran Duran – who have had 21 UK top 20 tunes, 18 American hit singles, and sold over 100 million records.
