Noel Gallagher has released the music video for his latest single, ‘Wandering Star’. The video stars Line Of Duty actor Stephen Graham as a cigarette smoking Santa. The single was released on November 14, and will appear on Gallagher’s latest High Flying Birds EP, Blue Moon Rising. The EP will be out on March 6 2020.
According to Liam, the single was written at Abbey Road on the same day that he’d penned ‘Black Star Dancing’. He further said. “It’s that good, it sounds like it took 5.4 people to come up with it. It’s already a live standard and we haven’t even played it
The director of the music video, Dan Cadan, discussed the music video, declaring that it wasn’t “anti-Christmas”. He further said that he “wanted to highlight the plight that can affect people” around the festive period.”
This music video serves as the third time Cadan and Steven Graham have collaborated together. Actress Hannah Walters, Graham’s wife, also stars in the music video. Graham helps Walters, who plays a mother, steal presents for her children.
The video sees them escape a security guard, before giving a present to a homeless man, as Walters finally returns home to her children, with Graham watching on.
The upcoming EP from Gallagher succeeds ‘This Is The Place’, released back in September. It was awarded four of five stars through an NME review, which claimed that the former Oasis guitarist had “gone back to his roots but taken them to strange new places”
Noel recently expressed interest in playing guitar for The Smiths if they ever reunited. He discussed his desire in an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1. “I would love to be in a band and just be a guitarist for a while,” said Gallagher.
“Not that band [Oasis], but sometimes when I sit in with [Paul] Weller I just think ‘thank god for that’.”
