The British alternative pop band Glass Animals announces their comeback single ‘Tokyo Drifting’ on their social media. The band also teams up with a rising American hip-hop star Denzel Curry.
The four-piece band started to tease their return to the spotlight after posting a cryptic 8-bit colourful video featured a ton of fruits on Instagram on November 10th. On November 11th, the band officially revealed that they were about to drop a new single called ‘Tokyo Drifting’ with the rapper Denzel Curry on November 13th.

‘Tokyo Drifting’ marks the first single of Glass Animals in three years after the release of their sophomore album ‘How to Be a Human Being’ in 2016, which debuted on Number 23 on UK Album Chart and, more importantly, was nominated for the 2017 Mercury Prize. In addition to the upcoming single, the band did a special gig for their fans in Oxford on November 1st, which was completely sold out very rapidly. The psychedelic band also promised to go on tour in Australia, China, and Malaysia.
However, both their imminent new music and tours finally take shape after Glass Animal took a long break due to the band’s Joe Seaward was involved in a horrific accident back in July 2, 2018. Seaward was hit by a truck while cycling in Dublin, causing him an immense number of severe injuries, including a fractured skull and broken leg. After being in an immobile condition for quite some time, the drummer had to undergo a physical recovery session and is now fully recovered and ready to go back to the music scene.
After the dark clouds, Glass Animal has eventually found a silver lining. Their new single ‘Tokyo Drifting’ will be available everywhere this Thursday. Now the snippet of the song can also be heard on the band’s social media accounts, and it seems like the song is going to be synth-heavy as usual. ‘Tokyo Drifting’ is the second song of Glass Animals in which they collaborate with a rapper after the song ‘Lose Control’ with Joey Bada$$ in 2015.
