Chvrches performed their titular track from the upcoming PS4 game, ‘Death Stranding: Timefall’, live on ‘The Late Late Show With James Corden’. The live performance from the Glaswegian band can be seen 0n Youtube.
The game, directed by Hideo Kojima, is due out on November 8, starring Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux and Mads Mikkelsen. High profile names including Bring Me The Horizon, The S.L.P, Major Lazer and The Neighbourhood have also produced music for the game’s soundtrack.
Most recently, Bring Me The Horizon unveiled their track ‘Ludens’, another track lifted from the game. Chvrches released ‘Death Stranding’ at the beginning of October admitting they were fans of Hideo Kojima’s work, responsible for the hit game series Metal Gear. “We were really excited about the opportunity to work with Kojima because we have been fans of his work for a long time,”
“He has always been such a visionary in the gaming world and we were honoured to be involved in the project. The concept of ‘Death Stranding’ is so unique and really felt to us like it was challenging people to care about the world they create — in the game and otherwise. We wrote this song specifically for ‘Death Stranding’, thinking of the themes of the game and what it is trying to say to people.”
The official track listing for the game’s soundtrack is listed below:
- ‘Trigger’ – Major Lazer & Khalid
- ‘Ghost’ – Au/Ra & Alan Walker
- ‘Death Stranding’ – Chvrches
- ‘Yellow Box’ – The Neighbourhood
- ‘Meanwhile…In Genova’ – The S.L.P.
- ‘Ludens’ – Bring Me the Horizon
- ‘Born In The Slumber’ – Flora Cash
- ‘Sing To Me’ – Missio
In May 2018, Chvrches released their third album, ‘Love Is Dead’, with NME awarding it four out of five stars and declaring that “‘Love Is Dead’ manages to balance hopeful, utopian pop with a darker, gloomier undercurrent. Love may not be dead after all, but if you ask CHVRCHES, the onus is on all of us to try and keep it alive.”
