The Salford quintet are ready to unleash their eclectic blend of indie pop and dance to the music world with upcoming E.P Native set to blow everyone’s minds.
Having been bought together in the midst of the riots that plagued the country in 2011, Suzuki Method are now set to cause riots of their own when Native is released later this month. With influences coming from artists as vast and different including Daft Punk to The Smiths, the best way to describe them would be if those two bands came together to form a hybrid group and let you float away into a euphoric musical coma.
Lead single Sherbet has already received praise all over, with it’s synthesisers driven opening before a bellowing bass line comes into play. The video for the track was shot by acclaimed director Pete Travis, who won a BAFTA for his work on TV series Omagh, and features the band playing on rooftops in Manchester, fitting seeing as their music has the capability to sweep across entire cities with it’s choruses that are determined to get you moving, regardless of whether you want to or not.
Production skills are completely on point as well, adding another impressive feat to the CV of producers David Tolan and Jim Spencer, famed for their work with the likes of Delphic, The Charlatans, Johnny Marr and many more. Take no credit away from Suzuki Method though, and one of the tracks from the E.P, Be Cruel Be Kind has the potential to be the song of the year. Featuring the kind of vocals more familiar with the post-punk movement from the late 70s and 80s, it is destined to fill indie clubs all over the country, and will leave people wanting more once the four minutes and six seconds are over. It is an incredibly good song and deserves to be heard all over.
Native is released on the 20th of October, and you’d be truly mad to ignore it. You can listen to Be Cruel Be Kind below.
