The 1975 premiered unreleased music during their spot at Reading Festival. The first glimpse into the new album’s music, set for a release date on February 21, 2020, came mid way into their set with Matty Healy calling to the crowd, “Notes On A Conditional Form, cheers”, as seen through social media footage posted onto Twitter. Other performing acts alongside The 1975 over the weekend included Royal Blood, The Wombats, Billie Eilish, Twenty One Pilots and Foo Fighters.

The ‘Somebody Else’ band headlined The Main Stage at Reading on Friday 23, a day after they released their new single from their upcoming fourth album. A review of the new single, ‘People’ in NME said, “Their new song, ‘People’ is a complete act of sabotage and rebellion. A push-back to the naysayers and the critics who dismiss them throwaway pop music, and an act of self-vandalisation to rip it up and start again,”

Back in July, The 1975 released a protest song featuring a speech by Swedish climate activist, 16 year old Greta Thunberg, which can be heard at the Spotify link below. Serving as the opening track on their new album, the reimagined version of ‘The 1975′, the short instrumental track that has opened their last three albums, has been described as the band’s, “biggest, boldest revolution yet, because it features a brand new speech by Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swede whose direct action, inspirational speeches and one-person protest inspired a global youth movement and, arguably, helped mobilise Extinction Rebellion.”
Meanwhile, a man who has not been formally identified, died after falling ill at the Reading Festival. His death at this time is being treated as unexplained, according to police. Emergency services arrived at the festival before 11pm on Saturday. He was bought to Royal Berkshire Hospital, but died the following day. Another tragic incident occurred at Leeds Festival, where a teenager died from a suspected drug overdose.
