As Headie One gears up for the release of his new project Music X Road, he has released the visuals for the fourth single off the tape, ‘Rubbery Bandz.’ Earlier this month he linked up with Skepta to release ‘Back To Basics’ which has already hit the U.K Singles Chart at #42. This week Headie One announced that the highly anticipated 15-track tape will be released on 23rd August and will include features from Skepta, Dave, Stefflon Don plus many more.
‘Rubbery Bandz’ sees Headie One step out of his comfort zone and brings the summer vibe with this upbeat, afrobeat instrumental. However, this hasn’t compromised his distinctive sound, referencing back to his collaboration with Dave he raps, “This rusty cost me a couple of grand, they don’t want to see us pull up and gang.” Following the jumpy chorus, Headie One gives us a taste of the versatility that’s in store for the new tape, with a rare sped up flow filled with straight bars. On the bridge, the Tottenham MC switches up his flow and accent paying tribute to his Ghanaian heritage.
Shot poolside at a tropical destination, we see Headie One and friends surrounded by exotic plants and bikini-clad women. The summer vibe is definitely in full effect with the track and video going hand-in-hand, “Top floor pouring champagne on her ass.” The vintage-style shots give these visuals that extra sauce and deliver an aesthetic that’s reminiscent of a vacation home video.
Headie One has had an exceptional year so far, from performing at all the major U.K festivals this summer including Wireless and Glastonbury to attending Paris Fashion Week with Virgil Abloh. He recently was featured on Krept & Konan’s single ‘I Spy’ which has hit #18 on the U.K Singles Chart. He will also be headling a U.K tour, details are given below.
