The Killers have accomplished the feat of producing the loudest set at Glastonbury in history, as confirmed by Martin Audio, the company responsible for the speakers on the Pyramid stage. Reports indicate the set reached a maximum level of 106 decibels during the LA band’s gig. The Killers took to the Pyramid stage on June 29, during the second night of Glastonbury.

This rights the wrongs from their headline set in 2007, as the band were cursed by issues with sound restriction, impeding the band’s performance. Their Saturday gig at Glastonbury 2019 still stayed below the 65 decibel restriction given for sound levels off site, due to improvements with technology, and in time monitoring of wind and temperature.

Brandon Flowers, the lead singer of the Killers spoke to NME, opening up about the infamous 2007 show that went so wrong, saying, “I remember there was some kind of restriction on the sound and the dB levels, things like that”.

He went on further to say, “And there were problems with the PA. I remember being frustrated to get to that point and have these unforeseen things put a cloud over the experience. We thought we were pretty good, I’m sure there were some good moments.”

“I don’t know what it was like out front,” admitted Jon Vanucci Jr, the drummer of the band.

“That festival does such a good thing for charity, but they can end up falling short in a lot of the practical areas and fundamental festival set-up and production. Shit like that happens though.”

Meanwhile, Mark Beaumont awarded them five stars in an NME review of their Glastonbury set. The band’s return to Worthy Farm saw them perform a number of their biggest hits including ‘Human’, ‘Smile Like You Mean It’, and ‘Mr Brightside’. During the encore of their set, they shared the stage with guests including Johnny Marr and the Pet Shop Boys.
