Azealia Banks has released the official track listing for her long-awaited debut studio album, ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’.
The 22 year old rapper from Harlem, New York began to garner attention via the internet, when, after a long period of uploading her songs onto YouTube, her free single, ‘212’ became a chart success in late 2011. Banks released an EP, ‘1991’ in May 2012, to widespread critical acclaim – despite only being a four-track, it was ranked by several publications as amongst the best albums of the year.
Having spent much of 2012 and 2013 working on the album, which Banks describes as ‘five years in the making’, as well as playing slots at festivals including Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Banks has already built up a huge amount of anticipation for her debut.
The albums first official single, ‘Yung Rapunzel’ was released in April, followed by ‘ATM Jam’, a collaboration with rapper Pharrell, earlier this month.
A release date has not been confirmed, but the album is expected to launch at some point in January 2014.
