The Sheffield four piece have already started to make a name for themselves in their short careers, and debut single Hearts Are Breaking is going to show you exactly why.
With a sound very similar to that of yester-year, it’s refreshing to hear something that takes you back to the golden age of music, when everything was new and exciting and the simplest of riffs would get the blood pumping. Sounding like a cross between The Beatles’ delicate guitar-heavy melodies and the vocal prowess of Morrissey of The Smiths fame, with an attitude quite like fellow Sheffield superstars the Arctic Monkeys, High Hazels have a recipe for success here. They have all the right ingredients, all the chefs have cooked up their work, now they just need to await the tasters to take them to the next step.
Hearts Are Breaking is introduced by the kind of intricate chord that filled the psychedelic rock era back in the 60s and 70s before the vocal skills of James Leesley take over, seemingly taking you into a time machine and rocketing you back to the aforementioned decades. If you like your music with a touch of sentimental value, you are going to absolutely adorn High Hazels, joining the rest of their ever-growing fan base. The potential is there for all to see, all they can do is keep plugging away, their break is just around the corner.
Hearts Are Breaking is released on 7th October. You can listen to it below.
