The Arctic Monkeys have announced that last Sunday’s show at Estéreo Picnic 2019 in Colombia was their last until a new album is released. Sharing a photo on Instagram the band’s drum tech Dave Latter suggesting it will be the bands last show on this album, captioning the photo “It’s been a great year. 90 shows. Until next time” and later sharing a photo of the setlist on his story saying “90 shows. Farewell. Until next record”
The band played a star studded set in Columbia to end their world tour for the ‘Tranqulity Bass Hotel & Casino’ album. The album was one of the hottest and most controversial releases of 2018 and their final set included singles from it, as well as the classic Arctic’s tunes we’ve known to love.

The news of a potential Arctic absence is devastating for fans who were hoping they would be playing at festivals across the UK this summer. There had been rumours that the band would be unleashing the new album and iconic classic singles across Europe this summer, but it appears we will now have to wait until the next record.
arctic monkeys are dead i’m going back to bed and not coming out until the next record it was nice knowing you all

The good news for Arctic Monkey’s fans however as drummer Matt Helders revealed to Riley Fitzgerald that he doesn’t think there will be another 5 year wait until the next record. Speaking to the magazine he said “I don’t think so. I think that break was based on various circumstances and that was sort of what we needed at the time. But it’s not a pattern we’re going to get used to as a band. We like being in the studio. We’re keen on making albums”
He later added “We’ll talk about what we’ll do next. There’s no real concrete plan at the moment. We’re all enjoying it a lot, we know we want to do some writing at some point but there’s nothing really. We haven’t really talked about it yet. I suppose when we’re back together on these last couple of tours we’ll start thinking about that. But yeah, there’s nothing actually planned yet”
No one is quite sure when we’ll hear from the Arctics again, and quite what it will sound like, but what we do know is that it will be big, controversial and probably sound amazing.
