Hailing from Texas, Spencer Stephenson, better known as Botany, has revealed that his debut album Lava Diviner (Truestory) will be hitting your speakers this October.
The ambient, electronica instrumentalist has celebrated this news by making one of the tracks from the album, Anchor, completely free to stream and download. The song starts out with a nice, chilled mellow beat before gradually increasing in tempo, before easing out for the finale. The kind of tune you want to wake up to in the morning, relax to in the afternoon and listen to in the evening, to put your mind at complete ease and slip into a deep sleep.
Having just started working with Stereo Sanctity here in the UK, expect to hear more and more about Botany and his easy listening sensations. With a UK tour surely not too far away, the time to get acquainted is now. Lava Diviner (Truestory) was originally a concept album documenting a religious sect praying for a volcano to erupt, but once the record was finished it occurred to Botany that it was much more personal than that. Below is a direct quote from the man himself about the process.
“As work on the record progressed, I began to realize that the musical journey was a direct reflection of my most hard-to-quantify life experiences.” he explains. “Lava Diviner is about very real transformations in my being, so it’s a true story in that sense… I always imagined my first album being like a volcano, with years of pent-up emotion and musical ideas bubbling up to a cathartic release. So, I always knew that symbolism would end up being a part of my first full-length.”
